Daily delight: Aaron De Mey's Ô My Rose!

When I first heard that New Zealand-born make up artist Aaron De Mey had been named as the Artistic Director for Make Up of French mega brand Lancôme, I was beyond delighted. I’ve always loved his punky, sometimes DIY aesthetic as an artist, and knew he would bring a whole new set of tricks and definition of beauty to the much loved brand. His first collection was all strong lips, black nails and a fresh look at 80’s sensuality, but his latest – titled Ô My Rose! – is at the opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to its key look, and demonstrates a softer side to the make up maestro himself. An ode to the grace of the Sixties Nouvelle Vague woman and fresh French beauty, the collection is full of pop shades, coral tones and a brand new joie de vivre. My personal faves include the gorgeous Pop’ n’ Cheeks - a fresh, glowing blush that works on any skin tone - and Le Khol Gloss in Pop Petrol, a high shine eye pencil in a beautiful aqua green. The image of Elettra Wiedemann above, surrounded by roses like a flower in bloom, reveals the spirit behind Ô My Rose! and is the epitome of pop sensuality and just plain loveliness. The original visual was photographed in Paris by Ruven Afanador, who is famous for his ultra feminine portraits of beautiful women. The collection is on counter on March 23 (my birthday!) and is all set to breathe a touch of sexy Spring attitude into the Southern Hemisphere Fall.
