Daily delight: the magnificent Ombre Rose

I am like an addict when it comes to being unable to pass the WORLDbeauty store in Ponsonby Road, they always have such a fabulous selection of unique treats in there to lather on, sniff and spray, and their selection is always impeccable. I just received an email from their wonderful PR man Matt announcing the arrival of Jean-Charles Brosseau’s prestigious ‘Ombre Rose’ across all WORLDbeauty stores, which for local fragrance hounds, is dreadfully exciting news. After graduating from the High Fashion School of Paris, Jean-Charles created his own label and founded his Parisian fashion house in 1955. Since then, he has been highly celebrated in the Parisian fashion scene, but it is his magnificent creation that is Ombre Rose that has made the man a celebrity in his own right. After accidentally discovering a formula made up of musky notes, vanilla, heliotrope and rosewood, which were used as a bonding agent, in 1978, Jean- Charles found a perfume base which was by itself - and without any complimentary additions - a fragrance that he loved, and he soon took his great love to the world. With a four-star rating in his book Perfumes: The Guide, fragrance expert Luca Turin refers to Brosseau’s most famous creation as “way ahead of its time” and “a powdery fruity-woody rose that has been imitated a hundred times since.” Since the original launch in New York City in 1981, Ombre Rose quickly gained international appeal which saw, in 2004, Jean-Charles launch the two collections Fleurs d’Ombre and Collection Homme, cementing his reputation as one of Paris’ greatest perfume creators. His fragrances are timeless and super elegant, and do not require flashy finery and unecessary frippery to reel you in. Ombre Rose is available exclusively from WORLDbeauty stores in New Zealand- I urge you to race in and grab a sniff ASAP.

  1. Oh my! Thank you, thank you thank you!!! Ombre Rose is my favourite perfume in the whole world, and I've been trying to get a replacement bottle for months. I thought I had secured a steady supply from an online retailer, but the perfume was 'off' when I received it (as was the replacement bottle they sent) so I was beginning to give up hope! The thought that that it may be in a World store right near my work has made me a very happy girl! :)
