Natura Bissé’s Diamond Facial– most definitely a girl’s best friend

Every time someone asks me the spa I most recommend for a very special treat for themselves, friends or loved ones, I always start with Chuan Spa at the Langham hotel. Chuan isn’t just a spa to me but an experience – and it’s definitely one that lingers. They’ve just taken the luxury bar one step higher as well, with the arrival of Spanish beauty brand Natura Bissé to their treatment menu and as a retail range. Now a worldwide beauty phenomenon that is synonymous with sheer indulgence, Natura Bissé was founded over 25 years ago in Barcelona and is still a proudly family-owned brand. It began with a skincare product line of just five creams; expending over the years to more than 300 products within the 12 product lines. Natura Bissé is available in 35 different countries, with New Zealand the latest to be added to the lucky line up.
Last week I popped into Chuan to experience the jewel in the Natura Bissé crown – the Diamond Facial. So super fabulous that it even features in a song by the divalicious Beyonce herself, this treatment is pure luxury for the skin. A multi-faceted facial that lasts for a blissful 90 minutes, it uses a combination of aromatherapy, cryotherapy, shiatsu and a Diamond sensory massage to stave off ageing and promote a healthy, nourished glow. During the 90 minutes of total relaxation, a pressure point fork increases facial circulation and a peeling exfoliant mask will smooth fine lines while therapists massage the hands and feet - there's not one minute when skin doesn't feel utterly pampered, or at very least invigorated. The cryotherapy element creates a cold lifting effect, redefining the face shape and bringing intense hydration and regeneration to your skin, acting deeper to repair damaged DNA. And as for the general, feelgood factor of the whole thing? I can honestly say that my 90 minutes tucked up on a bed in the depths of the womb-like Chuan Spa were a treat like you wouldn’t believe, and I seriously didn’t want to leave (when it comes to the Langham, I never do). Sure the peeling element had that all-too-familiar tingle to it, but the Natura Bissé formula has a ph the same as your skin, so although it’s doing stuff as it should, you won’t be left feeling like you’ve been lying out in the sun for the day. When I finally got up the courage to return to the real world via their opulent lobby, even the valet wished me “an enchanting afternoon” as I jumped into my car, and after that I most certainly did! And the results are built to last – plump, gorgeously hydrated skin for a long while after is a very welcome side effect.
