I try: a set of Sheekee nails at Verdo

I recently popped in to see the always-lovely Amber at Verdo Nails in Parnell to try her latest – and hottest! – new product line, Sheekee Nails. A nail warp system similar to the Minx nails I’ve had applied at Magic Tan & Beauty, SheeKee Nails were created by Nickole Orton, a woman with over 18 years of experience in the industry as a professional nail technician. Her passion has always been artistic nail art design, and she began the testing and perfecting of a heat activated vinyl nail wrap for finger nails and toe nails in 2008. Because of how tedious and time consuming the free hand nail art was, she was inspired to find a solution and came up with a product that still allowed the expression of creativity without the time commitment.
Sheekee are created using a flexible vinyl film that is applied with heat and pressure, and I found them thicker in consistency to Minx, which could be a bonus for those with weak nails. They have less of a natural feel though, which could be a problem for some who like the feel of there being “nothing there”. Unlike nail polish, they do not chip, smudge or require any drying time and can be custom made to your liking, which is super cool. They can also be partnered with any acrylic system or gel system for longer lasting wear. Sheekee on fingers are great for a special event and can last from 5 to 8 days and longer with a Gel overlay. Sheekee on toes last from at least 4 to 6 weeks and even longer. There are an incredible over 150 designs to choose from, with new designs being released quarterly to keep things fresh. They are available in a Full Coverage and French Tip look including animal prints and super shiny metallic designs that are unobtainable from traditional nail polish. I love the look above, which is a French using Neon Sky.
If you would like to get your Sheekee on then you’ll find Amber’s details here. Tell her I sent you!
