Happy Monday: Oh my, it’s new Chanel!

I’ve said before that I often feel sorry for old Kaiser Karl Lagerfeld, whose beautiful and intricate designs have of late been eclipsed by Chanel’s nail polish collections that generate more hype and excitement by far.
That’s probably because more of us can actually afford a Chanel polish than a clutch or a beaded jacket, and we can build up our own “wardrobe” of shades for a fraction of the cost.
So it is with much excitement that I greeted news of the release of their latest run of polishes for Fall 11, which includes Graphite, silver-beige Quartz and a green-gold shade called Peridot (pictured above). The makeup collection that accompanies them (called Illusions d'Ombres de Chanel) is made up of eye shadows, lip colours and powder blushers that borrow heavily from a bronze, copper and platinum palette, and these nail polishes follow suit, coming in these three new and very modern hues. All have a metallic feel that will work perfectly with the Northern Hemisphere’s cooler climes, but I think they will work equally as well for us Down Under when paired with a tan and a classic black or slate grey sundress or tank. Either way, these are a must have – so get saving now!
