KEVIN.MURPHY Hair.Resort Spray, a beach in a can!

When it comes to hair, what could be more liberating than embracing your natural texture and really letting your hair down? Textured, beachy waves are sexy and relatively effortless, and continue to be a hot trend in the world of hair year after year. Hooray for that! But what happens if you aren’t lucky enough to be frolicking in the sea off some tropical isle? You get your mitts on a texture product like Kevin Murphy Hair.Resort Spray, recently released and already on my must have list.
The original Hair.Resort was a liquid, and although it smelled totally tropical and was a joy to use, I often put in a bit too much at first once my hair was dry and was left with a stickiness that soon drove me mad. I use it now in damp hair to get the beach texture look, but this brand new non-aerosol spray version is pretty much foolproof used either way. Part-foundation and part-finishing product, it gives you a great natural look with the minimum of time and product. The scent of tangerine makes this spray essential for when you’re missing summer days, and it’s ideal for fine to medium textured hair. It doesn’t contain any fluorocarbons or hydrocarbons and utilises essential oils of tangerine and honey, amino acids, hydrolysed silk and panthenol for body and strength, giving medium hold to your style.
“Living in Australia, I see women with soft, natural-looking surfer-style hair year-round,” says Kevin Murphy, international session stylist and founder of the brand. “I love the look and wanted to create a product that would transform hair to look like you’ve been to the beach, even if you haven’t.”
All Murphy’s products are biodegradable, paraben and sulphate-free and contain essential oils that act as bio-catalysts with natural regenerative, moisturising and strengthening properties. The packaging is 100 per cent recyclable and the range is based on an environmentally friendly Australian philosophy – KEVIN.MURPHY supports the Australian Conservation Foundation, which works with the community, business and government to protect, restore and sustain the environment.
The super stylist – and one of the funniest men I’ve every interviewed – was recently selected as a Climate Connector by The Al Gore Climate Project, a non-profit making organisation dedicated to educating the public about the harmful effects of climate change. In this role Kevin shares advice with the stylist community about adopting sustainable measures that will help the industry to reduce its carbon footprint and make a difference to the planet. Ya gotta love that!
