How to: Hailwood's hot NZFW 11 Bedhead
For Hailwood’s Winter 2012 collection titled “Minimalist Mantabre”, the beauty brief was a little Spanish matador… and a lot Palm Springs. The collection itself was grown up and minimalist, with a nod to the classics and a heavy dose of the dramatic in both its shape and its influence. It has been one of my favourite shows of the week so far with good reason!
Key pieces included a tuxedo inspired by a traje de luces and floor length dresses that hugged every curve, offset by woven rope belts, studded ankle boots, leather fringe and ribbon anklets, studded arm bangles and silver chokers dripping with large semi-precious stones. For the hair, Stephen Marr Creative Director Lauren Gunn created the ultimate “Palm Springs Bed Head”, which was as feminine as it was dangerously sexy.
Follow these steps for more of the same:
1. Brush your hair flat to a centre part section by section, spraying the roots and mid-lengths with Sebastian Zero Gravity hairspray as you go.
2. Bring all of the hair forward to sit over your collarbones.
3. Beginning with the underneath layers and working your way up to the top layers, put some wave in there either using a Cloud 9 wand, or by slipping in some Kevin Murphy wave clips.
4. When you get to the top, wave your hair from the temple down to the ends. Shake it all out and finish with off with a glaze of Sebastian Halo Mist for the ultimate in shimmer and shine.
