How to: DKNY F/W ’12 at MBFW New York
Called “The New Realism”, the look created by Eugene Souleiman - Global Creative Director of Wella Professionals - for the DKNY show at New York Fashion Week F/W 12 was a beautiful study in simplicity and ultimate wearability.
Souleiman said, “For me, the DKNY collection is always a great barometer on New York style and this season the collection is very elegant, almost like evening wear, so I wanted to create a hair look that was rich and refined but also with a hint of youth to bring the evening feeling back to a fresher day look”.
The look requires a little prep, but the end result – including a custom made classic barrette – is SO worth it.
To get the look:
1. Start with clean freshly washed and conditioned hair, using Wella Professionals Enrich Shampoo and Conditioner, to ensure hair is in perfect condition.
2. Prep wet hair with Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier then add Wella Professionals Perfect Setting before blow drying with a round brush to create a smooth sleek finish.
3. Section your hair at the front and create a deep side parting. Smooth hair down and spray very lightly with Wella Professionals Stay Styled hairspray to add shine and keep the ‘flyaways’ down.
4. Pull your hair back behind your ears and use straightening irons through the back section of the hair. Using a wide barrette clip, secure your hair into a low pony tail at the nape of your neck. The ponytail should be wide and flat with straight edges.
5. Finish with another soft spray of Wella Professionals Stay Styled hair spray to hold the look in place.
