Congratulations to: the wonderful Mana Dave, NZ Hairdresser of the Year!
Mana Dave, head stylist and co-owner of Auckland’s BLAZE
hair salon, was last night named NZ Hairdresser of the Year at the prestigious
Hair Expo awards in Sydney. Mana has always been one of my favourite local
stylists - with talent and vision and lashings of charm and generosity to boot –
so I wanted to throw him a big congratulations on such a fabulous win.
The annual awards bring together the Southern Hemisphere’s
hairdressing community, saluting the talent, dedication and drive of the most
revered hair artists in Australasia. Mana entered the competition with the
incredible images above, so its no surprise that this always-humble star took
out the top prize.
Redken artist Mana won the title in 2005 and 2010 and was
the first international artist selected by Redken 5th Avenue New York to be
part of the Redken International Symposium, presenting with UK hair legend Lee
Stafford. In April he was a winner at the Redken Club 5th Avenue awards in
Dunedin where he scooped the award for NZ Salon of the Year, and I can’t see
the accolades stopping here!
