I try: ModelCo Face Base Skin Primer

I’m always being asked which primers I recommend, and often don’t know where to start! There really is a ridiculous amount of them hitting the market every week, each promising more tricks and transformations than the next.

One that I have found of late that most definitely does what it says – “Primes, Mattifies and Nourishes” – is ModelCo’s Face Base, which is a simple primer that performs its fair share of tasks with minimal fanfare but great results.

A hydrating skin primer that visibly improves the look and texture of the skin by smoothing out fine lines and pores, it works at creating an even flawless base for make-up and keeps foundation for up to 10 hours, which is no mean feat. 

It is also oil-free and its soft, silky formula is suitable for all skin types, making it a pretty safe purchase if you’re new to using a primer and unsure where to start. Enriched with nourishing vitamins C and E, it is also like a second skin in the way that it protects the skin against drying and seasonal conditions whilst re-hydrating, so sensitive skin types will love it too.

ModelCo says to use this liberally on a cleansed face (including under delicate eye area) but I only use about two small pea size drops and apply it all over my face with my fingertips as it most definitely goes a long way. Leave for a couple of minutes before applying foundation, or use it on its own as a protective moisturizer-slash-barrier, which is just the ticket for the colder days ahead.
