Paris Fashion Week rundown: Anthony Vaccarello F/W 13, by Tom Pecheux for Estée Lauder

For the third consecutive season, so-hot-right-now designer Anthony Vaccarello partnered with makeup maestro Tom Pecheux for Estée Lauder to create one of the best beauty looks seen this year. Estée Lauder global spokesmodel Liu Wen featured prominently in the show as well, looking the perfect mix of elegant, young, and cool - the Vaccarello woman was officially born!

The makeup featured what is turning out to be the season's hottest shade by far - a deep, cool-toned berry lip. It was also very matte, which gets a big tick from me as always! Pecheux started by outlining and filling in the lips with Estée Lauder Stay-in-Place Lip Pencil in Wine. Using a brush, he then painted on Estée Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in Plum Couture, a deep purple hue. He dusted the lips with translucent loose powder, followed by a layer of the new Estée Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick in Hot Lava (out in August 2013) and another dusting of powder. "I wanted the lips to be supermatte, superintense, and the colour to be very rich,” he told Allure, and that’s exactly what they were.

While there was no mascara or blush, there was foundation, concealer, and a very pretty wash of colour across the lids, which was in fact the Plum Couture lipstick topped with shimmery taupe eye shadow (Pure Color EyeShadow Duo in Vanilla Pods). The perfect base was created using Illuminating Perfecting Primer followed by Double Wear Light Stay-in-Place Makeup (paired with Double Wear Stay-in-Place Concealer) with a dusting of Lucidity Translucent Loose Powder in Transparent over the top.

The makeup felt elegant and still edgy without looking overdone, and the same could be said of the updo each model wore and the to-die-for burgundy-and-silver half-moon manicure that complemented the makeup, in addition to the metallic accents in the collection. Created by Christina Conrad for Estée Lauder it was a mix of three Pure Color Nail Lacquer shades: Bittersweet, Fallen Angel and Smoked Chrome (available in August 2013).
