Makeup breakdown: Chanel F/W 13-14 Haute Couture
As
always, the makeup created for Chanel’s recent F/W 13-14 Haute Couture Show was
absolutely sublime, and further proof that the legendary Peter Philips is a
modern beauty genius!
He
went on record as saying that the inspiration for this show's make-up came from
a beauty sketch by Karl Lagerfeld. It featured strong plum shading and strong
'smoky' eyebrows, and Philips “started out by using a natural, luminous
foundation VITALUMIERE AQUA as a base for a really fresh and clear complexion.
Then I applied a sweep of plum blush on the side of the face and on the cheeks with
JOUES CONTRASTE Plum Attraction to create a soft shading effect.”
He
then went on to place some serious focus on the eyebrows using LE SOURCIL DE
CHANEL and CRAYON SOURCILS, “to make them stronger, more dramatic and at the
same time elegant. They are finished off with the darker shade of the eye shadow
LES 4 OMBRES Mystère to give a smoky effect.”
For
the eyes, he applied the warm golden ivory shade of LES 4 OMBRES Mystère on the
eyelids, then a touch of mascara INIMITABLE INTENSE Black on the top lashes and
a tiny bit of eyeliner ECRITURE DE CHANEL Black to fill up the roots of the
lashes. The lips stay pretty and natural with just a dab of lip balm ROUGE COCO
BAUME, and for the all essential nail look? “I chose the nail polish LE VERNIS Ballerina.”
Sheer
perfection.
