Hair how to: Victoria Beckham AW14, by Guido for Redken
Victoria Beckham's AW14 collection stole the show from the
moment the models hit the runway, proving to be one of New York Fashion Week's
hottest front row tickets - and most hotly-anticipated collections.
Monochrome was the word on everyone’s lips, with the austere
palette proving a stark contrast to her vibrant collection of SS14. She kept to
her characteristic ultra clean lines and tailoring for dresses, shirts and
skirt suits, occasionally flipping the lid with some killer flashes of red to
contrast the black and white colour scheme.
Redken Global Styling Director Guido was called in to create
the hair look to go with the new collection, and used two key products,
satinwear 02 prepping blow-dry lotion and pillow proof blowdry two day extender
(available in April in New Zealand, can’t wait!) to create easy, undone hair that
is super easy to re-create at home. The hair was slouchy, easy and pure luxury.
"I wanted the hair to be consistent with Victoria's
simple and modern collection,” said the super stylist. “The whole idea is to
create that ultra-rich and luxurious feeling, without doing much to the hair.
The ultimate idea of luxury in the beauty industry has changed dramatically in
the last few years. It used to be fantastic and grand, but that doesn't really
translate anymore, especially with younger designers like Victoria Beckham. It
is all about the subtle details that make a big difference on the end
result."
To re-create the look:
1. Apply satinwear 02 prepping blow-dry lotion to damp hair
2. Create a messy centre part
3. Allow hair to dry naturally
4. Wrap the hair around 2" curling iron to create
additional movement if necessary
5. Spray pillow proof blowdry two day extender on
mid-lengths and ends for added texture
6. Pull hair back into a loose low ponytail and secure with an
elastic
Magic! So effortless and yet totally polished…
