Winter essential: the AVEENO Skin Relief range
My skin does NOT like winter, and now that I think about -
neither does the rest of me! But anyway, I’m not alone, with all too many
people I know suffering winter’s cold, dry and unpredictable air and getting
skin that is way too parched because of it. This leads to the likes of dry and
chapped skin for some, whilst others like me get hit by eczema… and then some.
So, I always have an arsenal of goodies on hand to treat
whatever my skin throws at me, and some of my new favourites are from the
Aveeno Skin Relief range, which was formulated specifically for extra-dry and
cracked skin.
It harnesses the soothing benefits of the brand’s Naturals
range to significantly decrease itchiness in an amazing two minutes post- application
on average, and it’s enriched with skin soothing Natural Colloidal Oatmeal, an
absolute wonder ingredient for those of us with super dry skin.
Hydration is key when caring for itchy, extra dry skin, so
the folks at Aveeno recommend that you moisturise all over with their Skin
Relief Moisturising Lotion (a steal at $16.99), which is a highly effective lotion
that features a patented Triple Oat formula with Natural Colloidal Oatmeal to
moisturise and relieve itchy skin, Oat Essence to soothe irritation, and Oat
Oil to provide an intense moisture hit. Also containing skin-conditioning shea
butter extract, it is rich but also fast absorbing, so the best choice for
mornings when clothes need to be put on with some haste etc.
For extra dry, uncomfortable skin, they have created Skin
Relief Moisturising Cream (RRP
$25.99), which is rich and super nourishing. Formulated with
Natural Colloidal Oatmeal, Cocoa and Shea Butters and cooling Menthol, it has
been clinically proven to “provide immediate, long-lasting moisturisation to
relieve dry, flaky, itchy and cracked skin”. It’s rich but it’s also pretty
close to non-greasy, despite the fact that it forms a protective barrier to
repair cracked skin and prevent future dryness, leaving skin moisturised for a
full 24 hours. Love that.
So if you’re battling winter skin woes like me then I highly
recommend that you check this range out - and avoid hot showers and baths,
despite how cold the temperature gets outside!
