All about: Pureology’s commitment to Sustainable Coastlines
A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to
travel to Waiheke Island with Pureology and the guys from Sustainable
Coastlines - an amazing initiative that coordinates and supports large-scale coastal
clean-up events, education programmes, public awareness campaigns and riparian
planting projects. The work that Sustainable Coastlines does – in both
clean-ups and sustainability education – ensures our beaches and waterways are
protected for the enjoyment of future generations, and I have become completely
committed to spreading the word about the work that they do.
We began the day with a coastal clean up at
Surfdale beach, and what I saw horrified me. And it wasn’t rubbish dropped by
beachgoers that was the problem - it was the detritus that had washed over from
cities like my own that was clearly clogging the waterways and making the whole
scene a goddamn mess. The work Sustainable Coastlines do to raise awareness of
this is extraordinary - and I urge you to get involved in your own clean up
ASAP.
In June Pureology announced it was
supporting New Zealand’s own Sustainable Coastlines organisation in celebration
of the brand’s fifth birthday in New Zealand – and now the relationship is
bearing substantial fruit. The eco-conscious brand
founded in California in 2001 has been joined by 128 hair salons nationwide in
support of the Sustainable Coastlines initiative. Over the course of the
relationship Pureology has strengthened its commitment to the charity by
growing its cash contribution to more than $11,000.
All of the above salons are selling
Pureology Sustainable Coastline stickered products – with one dollar from each
sold at retail going to the cause - and from this month, a $1 donation will be
made with every purchase of Pureology Christmas packs yoo. There will be three
– Pure Volume, Strength Cure and Hydrate - each containing a shampoo and
conditioner duo.
And to continue the momentum, from November
Pureology will also be offering clients the opportunity to receive a
complementary BPA-free, stainless steel re-usable Sustainable Coastlines drink
bottle when the purchase of any two Pureology products is made.
Great work Pureology and people, get
amongst it! For more about how you can help keep our beaches healthy for the
next generation visit here.
