Wellness news: Nike asks you to “find your fast”

In news straight outta Portland, Nike has announced that the world’s biggest stars are challenging Kiwis to run their fastest mile.
Nike’s “Find Your Fast” challenge brings together some of the planet’s beacons of speed, including Serena Williams, Kobe Bryant, Mo Farrah and Rafael Nadal, to inspire athletes to run or train for their fastest time this season. Whether preparing for a first mile or looking to shave seconds or minutes off a personal record, all athletes can get faster with determination, practice and – yep – the right footwear.
I’ve been trying to get my run on for years now, trying and failing mainly due to poor technique and lack of a running buddy. This new challenge has got me all enthusiastic again though, it’s just a matter of sorting myself out and getting to it, yeah?
This is where Nike steps back in. Speed is an integral ingredient in any Nike+ Run Club Training Program, and Nike+ Run Club coaches have developed an eight week program that will help Kiwis run their fastest mile. The program includes workouts, music for motivation and expert
tips to get you faster and better.

Many of the world’s top athletes train or compete in shoes with Nike’s own Zoom Air technology. Zoom allows athletes of every calibre (and numpties like me) to optimise their quest for speed, and is available in a few different show styles.
Nike Air Zoom Elite 8 is the lightest of the Zoom training family, a minimalist streamlined propulsion device designed for athletes who want to stay fast and light on their feet in training or competition. Forefoot Zoom Air gives runners a snappy response off the road and these puppies are available now.
Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 32 is a neutral shoe for training day in and day out, and the newest version feels faster and more responsive than any model in its impressive lineage. The 32 retains features loved by loyal Pegasus runners: heel Zoom Air for a cushioned ride, enhancements like a dropped offset (10mm) for a more natural stance.
Nike Air Zoom Odyssey is built for the world’s fastest, who need this much lockdown for a stable feeling at incredible rates of speed (possibly not me then!). New Flywire technology and dual-injected heel clip enhance heel lockdown, while the flexible outsole and Ortholite sock liner cushion and guide the foot. The Nike Air Zoom Odyssey has just landed at Nike stores and Smiths. So what are you waiting for? Go forth and find your fast.
