All about: the Chloe Morello X Revlon Sculpt + Highlight Contour Kit
Done badly, contouring can be a shocker (yes I’m looking at you, numerous over-filtered Instagram MUAs), but when it’s done well it can enhance your finished makeup look like nothing else.
One social media beauty star who isn’t known for over doing it is the preternaturally stylish Chloe Morello (above), famed for her natural-but-way-better style - and less-is-more approach to contouring. The Australian beauty vlogger has 1.7 million YouTube followers and well over 700,000 Instagram followers, and her influence is incredible. She's definitely made a name for herself in the beauty blogger world and has fans across the globe, leading to some high profile collaborations that have sold out in seconds. With all of this in mind, I just knew that the Sculpt + Highlight Contour Kit Morello co-developed with beauty giant Revlon would be a winner: easy to use, suitable for many skin tones and most importantly, affordable.
In a nutshell, it is a stylishly packaged, easy to play with palette containing four skin-toned powders that range from a yellow-based beige called Banana to the softest almost rosy gold named Glow. Alongside these two are a shimmery tan shade called Bronze and a dark matte brown – familiar to those that like to contour for sure - called Sculpt. It's been designed to make mastering the art of contouring easy, and after giving it a whirl a few times I don’t know if I’d call myself a ‘master’ as such, but I’ve got pretty damn good.
It comes with a handy guide in the box for novices, but the true secret to contouring is blending away any hard lines, and then blending again (the powders even contain 'blurring technology' so they don't settle in fine lines). The powders themselves are really buttery, sheer and blendable - which helps - and apparently Morello and Revlon have also created a contour brush to go with the kit for an even better result. I love that!
The Revlon Sculpt + Highlight Contour Kit is available now in two shades - Light/Medium and Medium/Tan – and I have tried both to great effect. The RRPfor both is $28.90, and considering how good and how versatile this product is I think that is a true beauty steal.
