All about: Beuti Skincare’s Beauty Sleep Elixir
Anyone that checks in here regularly will know that I’m a huge fan of oils - body oils, hair oils and facials oils - and love the fact that nine times out of ten, they are brilliant multi-taskers and are great travel companions too.
Cleansing your face with one is a given with me, but for many, using oils on the face in particular may seem counterintuitive, especially those who associate it with breakouts and the like. Well it just ain’t true, and there are more and more great facial oils arriving on the market all the time that are making their way into bathroom cabinets across the globe.
The latest I’ve fallen in love with was created by UK aesthetician Leila Alaam, under the moniker of Beuti Skincare. Introduced to me by local natural solutions powerhouse the Clean Beauty Collective, it’s simply called the Beauty Sleep Elixir and really is quite the wonder (and not just for use prior to sleeping).
Before launching Beuti Skincare, Leila says she found herself constantly on the search for results driven, healthy and affordable skincare. After personally experiencing a severe allergic reaction to a luxury eye cream, she was inspired to take matters into her own hands (which seems to be the case for many creators of seriously great, clean skincare brands). She was determined to develop a luxe skincare line without the hefty price tag, that helped heal, nourish, and treat common sensitive skin issues leaving skin supple, smooth and glowing. Her first creation was the Beauty Sleep Elixir, which hit the industry in 2015 with a bang.
A delicious to use, all natural blend of 14 plant-based oils, it was formulated to reduce inflammation, prevent collagen and elastin breakdown and nourish the skin. The ingredient deck includes a Caribbean coral extract that is a powerful anti-inflammatory, as well as sandalwood nut kernel oil, which helps prevent the breakdown of skin elasticity. These ingredients are then combined with a mix of different plant oils to moisturise the skin and help it glow, including a generous amount of camellia oil, chia seed oil, pomegranate seed oil, lavender herb oil, bitter cherry seed oil, strawberry seed oil, sea buckthorn fruit berry oil, sandalwood oil, capric trglyceride from coconut and others. I absolutely love a good mix when it comes to facial oils as many great ones work even better in synergy with others, and thus far I am loving this to fight the inflammation that has hit my skin due to winter and its multitude of woes.
As per the name, it’s a great serum to apply before bed as its super boost of vitamins and minerals activate a glowing complexion while your skin is renewing itself while you sleep. It can be also worn underneath makeup to even skin tone (it makes a great primer, IMHO), be applied to bare skin to brighten your complexion on days you want to skip the foundation, and even be used as spot-treatment thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties.
It is apparently Meghan Markle’s go-to after it was gifted to her by her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, and if that woman’s endless glow is anything to go by, it seriously works. The prescribed nighttime application is 2-3 drops, but I’ve found I need a little more with the winter temperatures and air con drying out my skin. I do love the feeling of oil on my skin though, so it’s up to you!
Highly recommended, Beuti Skincare’s Beauty Sleep Elixir is available now from Clean Beauty Collective here.
