Beauty news: Dermalogica unveils its new Active Clay Cleanser

Dermalogica are all about creating serious skincare with no mucking around involved, and the popularity of their products speaks for itself. Their newest addition is no different, and addresses the problems faced by oiler skins when it’s time to cleanse.
Many people with oily skin turn to over-drying cleansers and skip the moisturiser, which often results in an overproduction of the very oil they are trying to mop up. It disrupts skin’s natural protective barrier, and can also cause skin’s natural microbiome (the bacteria that live on your skin) to become unbalanced. A balanced microbiome, on the other hand, supports healthy skin.

Dermalogica’s new Active Clay Cleanser is all about ensuring that oily skin stays in the aforementioned state of good health via several key approaches. Its main purpose is delivering powerful prebiotics that nourish skin’s beneficial bacteria to bring skin’s microbiome back into balance, keeping oil in check while protecting skin’s moisture barrier and keeping it deeply purified.
Caroline Parker, Dermalogica’s Head of Education says: “Consumers often use harsh cleansers in an attempt to balance oily skin – stripping skin’s moisture barrier and disrupting its microbiome, ultimately exacerbating chronic oiliness. That’s why we are delighted to introduce Active Clay Cleanser’s dual-action, mineral-rich formula that delivers powerful prebiotics to bring skin’s microbiome back into balance, keeping oil in check while protecting skin’s moisture barrier.”
At the heart of the new Active Clay Cleanser is a prebiotic, dual-action clay and charcoal formula that purifies to help balance oily skin. Kaolin Clay is in there to absorb excess oil, whilst activated Binchotan Charcoal powerfully adsorbs impurities to help balance skin.
Botanical lipids and Murumuru Seed work together to attract and remove excess oil from skin while helping to protect its natural lipid barrier and promote a healthy microbiome, and last up, a bioflavonoid-rich complex of Citrus, Aloe and Broccoli Extract helps purify pores while leaving skin smooth. The end result is oily skin that feels gently cleansed, as opposed to squeaky clean and irritated as a result.
If oily skin is your issue then this beauty comes highly recommended for its gentle yet super effective approach. It feels super creamy for a clay-based formula, and I think it will be a huge hit with Dermalogica fans the world over.
Active Clay Cleanser comes in a 150 mL tube for the recommended retail price of $75, and is available now from authorised Dermalogica skin centres, department stores, Life Pharmacies and online at dermalogica.co.nzhttps://www.dermalogica.co.nz/.
