Beauty news: ghd encourages you to #takecontrolnow in their newest breast cancer campaign
As a two-time breast cancer survivor, I always appreciate it when a beauty brand decides to “go pink” for the cause and actually commits to it year after year. A lot don’t, believe me! Many a brand will jump on the bandwagon to leverage a few sales, then disappear the following year when a newer, shinier charity takes their eye.

But on to this year’s limited edition styling tools at hand, which were unveiled today and are available now. The collection includes the award-winning ghd platinum+ styler, ghd gold stylers and new helios hairdryer (my favourite!!), available in delicate shades of dust pink, and embossed with the central campaign message, Take Control Now, to ensure women of all ages are reminded to self-check more regularly. $20 from every sale from the pink collection goes to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, and hopefully the message will spread far and wide when it comes to checking in with your boobs.
400 Kiwi women under the age of 44 are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, of which I was one. For the campaign, the brand has partnered with 11 incredible women (above) who were diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 35 to share the message of self-checking every day. The limited-edition Take Control Now collection serves to remind women around the world to donate some mirror time to their boobs as well as their hair, which is something I can definitely get behind.
