Beauty review: M.A.C Cosmetics Glow Play Blush

I am the first person to admit that I’m not great with blush, and grand missteps in the past have essentially made me quite wary of applying it myself. I love it when an MUA pops some colour on me, but when I’ve tried it in the privacy of my own home it’s been a funfair-type disaster! That is until now, when I finally worked up the courage to give M.A.C Cosmetics new Glow Play Blush a whirl.
An incredibly lightweight and creamy feeling formula, they have a unique cushiony vibe and are subtle enough to build even for a novice like me. They have almost a bouncy feel and apply like a hybrid cream-powder, which is a bonus for drier skins as they don’t look chalky AT all. The colours are also easily buildable and super easy to blend, so after just a short play I was pretty much presentable enough to leave the house!

They can be applied with fingers or a brush – love that as I’m big on fingers! - and the sheer-to-medium buildable colour means you can start conservatively and then go big if you want. They are available in 11 shades and are suitable for all skin types, although some definitely deliver more colour pay off than others – especially if you have darker skin. Oily types will love the fact that the product is non-acnegenic, and has been dermatologist tested too, meaning minimal sensitivity issues for most people.
I apply these with my fingers and find they last all day, even over tinted moisturiser as opposed to a more longwearing foundation. At $49 a pop they aren’t cheap, but I think their incredible wearability will mean they will go on heavy rotation from the get go and won’t languish in your kit. Highly recommended!
