Beauty review: Dermalogica Hydro Masque Exfoliant
Called Dermalogica Hydro Masque Exfoliant, it’s a five-minute masque that exfoliates and hydrates in a single step. No need to apply one, remove and instantly apply another – it takes care of smoothing and soothing in a jiffy, and makes adding a little extra self care to your life that little bit easier.
Caroline Parker, Head of Education for Dermalogica New Zealand tells us that exfoliation is an essential part of any skin care regimen (no argument there!), but did you know that you have less than 60 seconds to moisturise after exfoliating? After that skin can become tight and dehydrated, which can compromise your glow. This is especially applicable in the cooler months and when we’re under a lot of stress, so the arrival of this right now is particularly fortuitous!
So how do you use it? Start by applying it generously to a cleansed face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Massage in circular motions until spheres disappear, then let the goodness activate for 3-5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and follow with your moisturiser of choice, and you’re good to go. It is designed to be used once or twice per week, depending on your skin type and how it takes to regular exfoliation. My super sensitive skin has been enjoying this beauty once a week since I received a sample, and I love how simple the whole scenario really is. This product was most probably designed with the time-poor in mind, and in lockdown 2.0 I’m not exactly that, but I really appreciate the simplicity of it all. The germaphobe in me also loves the delivery system, which keeps things nice and clean, and the texture is a joy to get amongst.
Hydro Masque Exfoliant comes in a 50ml bottle for the RRP of $108 and will be available at authorised Dermalogica Skin Centres, Department Stores, Life Pharmacies and online at dermalogica.co.nz from August 21, 2020. Oh and as an added sweetener, the brush pictured below comes as a handy Gift With Purchase!
Highly recommended whether you’re time-poor or not, this beauty isn’t cheap - but it is a real treat if your budget allows.
