In celebration of Kiehl’s iconic Calendula Collection
One of the highlights of my last trip to New York was a visit to the beautiful Kiehl’s flagship store at 109 Third Avenue, which honours the origins of the brand and then some. You can literally feel the history in the walls, and there is plenty of that considering the brand officially kicked off in 1851.
The Kiehl’s name has long been associated with carefully chosen, unique ingredient choices, which inevitably end up becoming a beauty buzz after they start appearing in the brand’s high performance product lines. Kiehl’s introduced its customers to the calendula petal in the 1960s, which was well before traditional cosmetics companies even knew about the stuff. Popular in Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries, it’s a star soother and so great for sensitised skin.
The first offering to launch was the now-iconic Calendula Herbal Extract Toner, which is currently Kiehl’s #1 best-selling toner globally. Formulated with hand-picked Calendula petals, it soothes and refreshes and just feels so damn great on the skin.
Ever since, Kiehl’s chemists continued to harness the soothing benefits of calendula, releasing Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash in 2014. In 2017, Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Mask joined the collection, AND my list of must-haves especially during the summer months. A soothing and hydrating gel mask formulated for all skin types that refreshes in just five minutes, it’s even better when it’s cooled down beforehand for 20 minutes in the fridge!

Most recently, Kiehl’s Calendula Serum-Infused Water Cream launched, which is a wonder combo when paired with Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal Extract Toner for added hydration along with reduction in any visible redness. Oh and did I mention that micronized, sun-dried petals are in all the formulas that make up the Calendula Collection? So you know you’re getting the good stuff, right from the source.
Pictured above are some images from an event held last week in celebration of the collection, making me feel like summer - and good times – are most definitely here.
