Beauty review: the limited edition M.A.C Black Cherry Collection
Every year M.A.C launches a floral-themed collection in time for Northern Hemisphere Spring, and this year’s offering transported me straight out of a gloomy, New Zealand winter long weekend. Welcome to the limited-edition Black Cherry collection: a Sakura-inspired spectrum of moody midnight magentas and daytime bursts of blush designed to take your look “whichever way the wind blows”.
A complete colour collection for eyes, lips and skin sporting a positive vibe and a cherry blossom motif, each product in the Black Cherry collection is wrapped and ready to gift in limited-edition, moon-bloom packaging. Whenever M.A.C launches a collection which includes special edition packaging it’s always instantly more popular, and the Black Cherry Collection was being coveted globally long before it dropped. It features the most amazing metallic pink packaging with a black and pink Sakura Blossom design, and I love that most of the products have a matte finish to the packaging, with the blossom cascading elegantly over the side. It looks particularly gorgeous on the bottle of Prep + Prime Fix+ - everyone’s favourite fixing spray that definitely needs no introduction.
The products in the collection that have received the most hype from fans of the brand are the M.A.C Black Cherry Extra Dimension Blushes, which come in a metallic pink compact, with a black lacquered effect design on the lid and pastel coloured blossom. The shade Dilly Dolly lends a soft, light pink shade to your cheeks and would be the best choice if you want to recreate the Sakura makeup look on the campaign model, whilst Look, Don’t Touch! is a pretty coral apricot shade that is very wearable. All the shades look super gorgeous and have a smooth powdery formula that is very easy to love.
The three matte lipsticks within the Black Cherry Collection are bright pink, red and a salmon-ypeach, which complement the shades of the blushes within the collection perfectly. They’re all very pretty, and will be undoubtedly be popular with their special edition blossom packaging. As with all M.A.C matte formulas they are super comfortable to wear, and will get a good workout from me over winter to brighten up gloomier days.
