All about: Shiseido’s new ULTIMUNE Power Infusing Concentrate

Shiseido’s iconic ULTIMUNE Power Infusing Concentrate is the legendary beauty brand’s best-selling product, with one sold every 8.9 seconds and having amassed an insane 151 beauty awards since its launch in 2014. To say it’s much-loved would be an understatement, and fans of the brand can’t get enough of the little red-hued powerhouse.
With all that in mind, Shiseido is also all about constant innovation, and the iconic brand has released a newly formulated ULTIMUNE Power Infusing Concentrate that comes with the promise of healthier, more vibrant skin in just six days.

As I learned over a beautiful lunch at Azabu Mission Bay last week, Shiseido believes skin is strong, beautiful and resistant to the external stressors that cause ageing signs when three key factors are apparent—radiance, smoothness and resilience. The new ULTIME is here to target all three in one high performance formula, with some very unique ingredients in the mix.
The first ingredient I hitherto had no knowledge of is extract of the Heart Leaf plant, grown in Japan. This ancient Eastern herb has been used for centuries as a medicinal plant for the arteries. Notoriously resilient, Heart Leaf can be propagated even from torn underground stems, and plays a major role in the strengthening of the skin.
The new ULTIMUNE also contains Fermented Roselle Extract, made from Roselle flowers (Hibiscus sabdariffa Linné) grown in Egypt and extracted in Japan. The extract is then fermented with lactic acid bacteria, which research suggests provides probiotics that may help boost skin's inner defenses. Valued by ancients in India as well as by royal families in Egypt, Roselle flower extract has long been used as an elixir for longevity. Legend has it that Cleopatra drank the extract regularly to enhance her beauty. Blooming one after the other on the same plant, Roselle flowers symbolise the cycles of beauty throughout life. But the plant is known for its strength, too—its fibres are commonly used in place of jute or hemp!
Having been playing with it since the launch event, I love the feel of the new ULTIMUNE, which is rich and dewy on the skin but absorbs incredibly quickly. Shiseido has long been know for its ability to add a truly sensorial experience to all its product releases, and this new beauty is definitely no different. As well as the silky texture, ULTIMUNE has a natural, green floral fragrance that relaxes, but also spicy notes to add an energising vibe. The fragrance also incorporates SHISEIDO’s ImuCalmCompound, which is based on the understanding that relaxation assists the skin's inner defense system. Combining fragrance ingredients Rose Element and Lotus Element, ImuCalm Compound helps you relax and in turn, your skin does too. It’s a very Japanese approach to skin health that I absolutely love, considering the ritual of skincare as a truly holistic experience.

On top of all of the above, the new ULTIMUNE comes in easily refilled packaging, with a cap and re-usable dispenser that are designed to further reduce plastic waste.
With an RRP of $135 for 30ml, the new ULTIMUNE Power Infusing Concentrate is available now.
