Hair how to: Paloma Elsesser at the Met Gala, hair by Jawara for Dyson
One of my favourite hair moments from the recent Met Gala was the old-Hollywood-with-a-twist look sported by actual goddess, Paloma Elsesser. The UK-born, New York-based modern supermodel’s mane was tamed by Dyson Global Styling Ambassador, Jawara Wauchope, hair stylist and contributing beauty editor for Dazed Beauty. Brooklyn-born Wauchope’s work has featured on the pages of AnOther Magazine, Dazed, British Vogue and i-D Magazine amongst many others, and he won the 2018 British Fashion Council New Wave Creatives Award and was featured on the Business of Fashion 500 and Dazed 100 rankings. To put it simply: he knows what he’s doing, and the look he created for Elsesser was a dream.
He says: “for Paloma we wanted to channel sexy Hollywood glamour with a contemporary twist,” and he did that via the following products and Dyson essentials.
Dyson CorraleTM hair straightener |
Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer |

- From the crown back, use the Dyson CorraleTM hair straightener to create a classic set around the hairline, going horizontally

- Brush out with the Paddle brush and, around the face, mould hair into an S finger wave shape flat to the head
- Finish with a small amount of Fekkai Shea Butter Intense Oil
