Beauty review: Patchology’s PoshPeel™ Pedi Cure

According to the experts, lockdown has been hard on our feet – lots of barefoot time has lead them to become more dried out than usual, and all of that walking in circles over the winter months hasn’t helped either! But summer - and sandal-wearing – is most definitely on our doorsteps, and without being able to access my favourite pedicure spots, I figured it was time for an intervention.
For me, that meant going in strong with Patchology’s PoshPeel™ Pedi Cure from MECCA, which promises serious results without the trauma of some of the dodgier foot peels available commonly online. The secret to this foot peel is an advanced AHA + BHA blend featuring glycolic, salicylic, lactic and citric acids that is designed to work effectively – without wrecking your feet. You’ll recognise these ingredients if you use products containing chemical exfoliants on your face, but when used on the feet they are dialled all the way up and deliver the kind of visual peeling that is definitely not ideal anywhere else. It’s that dramatic.
The main delivery system is the PoshPeel™ Pedi Cure Activating Essence, which includes five incredibly effective ingredients:
Glycolic acid: penetrates skin deeply and exfoliates
Salicylic acid: softens skin and removes dead cells
Lactic acid: hydrates and encourages the skin to slough off
Citric acid: help speed new cell turnover
Botanical extracts: brighten you up on the outside
The pack comes with plastic booties/socks and the treatment essence itself (in two separate sachets, one for each foot). You simply pour the essence into a bootie, then use the attached adhesive tape to secure it around your ankle. Yes you can move in them but I’d advise you not to, just to ensure an even peel and zero spillage via the bootie maybe breaking. Also keep your feet on the ground rather than up on a pillow, for exactly the same reason. Leave them on for 60 minutes or up to 90 if things are dire, then wash off in the shower and get on with life.

For the first few days after I first used the peel, I thought the solution must be really mild — I noticed a little bit of flaking here and there but nothing ground-breaking or dramatic. Then, on about day six, my feet began to undergo what can only be described as a metamorphosis — they were shedding and peeling constantly. While this is pretty disgusting, I have to admit that it was insanely satisfying — like watching a reptile emerging with a bright, shiny new skin! After ten days, my feet still have a little shedding but are mostly absurdly smooth, with no cracks or dry patches at all. In a few days I will be beyond sandal ready, and ready to get some colour back on my toenails once nail salons can open up again!
This is perfect time to try this puppy IMHO, so if you’re ready to put your best foot forward and level whatever-comes-next grab a treatment from MECCA now.
