Christmas countdown: Dyson unveils a limited-edition look for their must-have tools

Yesterday, the almighty Dyson unveiled a limited-edition Prussian Blue & Rich Copper colourway, launched exclusively for the 2021 gifting period. Available across all Dyson hair tools, the hue draws inspiration from Dyson’s engineering portfolio and wider research projects in materials, colours and finishes. Needless to say it looks sensational, and comes with a little backstory.
The combination of Prussian Blue & Rich Copper was first curated by Dyson engineers working on the Dyson Electric Vehicle project, where colour became a true focus for the design team. Curating a timeless, elegant colour palette for the car’s interior, the team sought an alternative to black. Black, while stylish, elegant and neutral, is widely overused according to James Dyson.
Founder and Chief Engineer, James Dyson said: “We have a purposeful colour selection process for our technology and we look beyond the obvious. The new Prussian Blue and Rich Copper were originally selected for our car, we wanted to inject interesting colour into the automotive industry, which is normally dominated by a boring blanket of black.”
Dyson design engineers put great emphasis on using colour with purpose, carefully considering colour placement to highlight each tool’s core technology. The rich copper accents on this new limited-edition range emphasise the core Dyson engineering within each tool, including the circular aperture of the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer and the flexing copper plates of the Dyson Corrale straightener.

The 2021 Prussian Blue and Rich Copper Dyson Supersonic hair dryer and Dyson Airwrap styler will be available from Dyson.co.nz from 1 November 2021 and the Dyson Corrale straightener available a little later this year. Each machine is included as part of a gift set paired with a selection of accessories, including a matching presentation case and Dyson-designed brush and comb. The Detangling Comb – which I have, and adore - is engineered with wide, polished teeth to glide easily through wet and dry hair, detangling with minimal friction, while the large Paddle Brush features air-cushion suspension for scalp comfort and is designed for smoothing hair when blow-drying.
