NYFW Get The Look: Jawara + Dyson for Altuzarra

The French-American designer, Joseph Altuzarra, is famed for a thoughtful and romantic handwriting that can be seen in each of his designs. With a penchant for prints and a way of warping and twisting silhouettes around the waist to cast new shapes that flatter and sculpt the figure, his pieces are unabashedly feminine but never girly. In a word: beautiful! His NYFW outing a few days ago was the perfect showcase for the designer’s whirling imagination, and superstar hair stylist Jawara was on hand to create a whimsical, dramatic hair look to match.
“For Altuzarra there were two different looks created based on the model herself and the look she is wearing,” said Jawara of the process. “The clothing has a life of its own and our goal is to celebrate the clothing and not over power it with these looks.”

Look 1 (above and in main shot)
This was dubbed the “Side Part Wet Look”, and here are the details on how to recreate the style at home:
1. Prep hair with Nutrafol scalp oil, massaged well into the scalp.
2. Part hair into a side part (using the top of the left brow as your guide).
3. Saturate hair using water, a sea salt-spray and thickening mousse. Brush hair from root to ends using a Dyson paddle brush.
4. Finger wave hair on both sides, starting from the part to the top of the ear, twisting hair towards the right side of head and securing with two large bobby pins.
5.  Dry hair using Dyson Supersonic hair dryer (use medium air flow, medium heat) with the Dyson Supersonic Diffuser attachment.

Look 2
(above and below)
This was the “Flat Twist”, and worked with the models’ own natural hair texture so perfectly:
1. Prep hair with Nutrafol scalp oil, massaged well into the scalp.
2. Part hair into four diagonal sections, apply edge control/gel to hair and comb through.
3. Twist each section back individually into a small chignon, secure with small elastic.
4. Set hair using Dyson SupersonicTM hair dryer (use medium air flow, cool shot) with the Dyson Supersonic Diffuser attachment.
