Beauty news: the MAC Viva Glam Day of Giving is here

This is your cue to stock up – as for all of June 9 and 10, the sales from all MAC products will give back 100 percent towards the VIVA GLAM mission to support healthy futures and equal rights. By loading up on all your favourite products – and if you’re anything like me, buying in doubles – you’ll be helping organisations across New Zealand and Australia to support men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS.
Going beyond just a yearly lipstick release that cares, the first ever MAC VIVA GLAM Day of Giving takes the brand’s decades of social activism to the next level with a 48 hour event dedicated to building awareness, promoting advocacy and raising much needed finds to benefit local organisations.
In Australia, these organisations include The Sydney Children’s Hospital, Bobby Goldsmith Foundation, Positive Life NSW, Western Australian AIDS Council, and leading HIV research organisation The Kirby Institute. In New Zealand, VIVA GLAM partners include The New Zealand AIDS Foundation and Positive Women.
June also marks a celebration for the iconic MAC VIVA GLAM I, II and III lipstick shades, and their contribution to the MAC VIVA GLAM Fund’s success over the past 29 years. Since 1994, the VIVA GLAM campaign has raised an incredible $500 million US dollars – simply by selling lipstick.
The sale of just one lipstick can provide two nights shelter for a homeless person living with HIV/AIDS, or cover the cost of one Rapid Oral HIV test. It can also provide three nutritious meals for those affected by, or living with HIV/AIDS, and that’s just the beginning.
So what are you waiting for? Until midnight tonight, all MAC product sales (excluding gift cards and appointments) from MAC freestanding stores and online at maccosmetics.com.au and maccosmetics.co.nz will be donated to the fund. Happy shopping!
