Fragrance Friday: Ellis Brooklyn Apple Love Eau de Parfum
“London is satisfied, Paris is resigned, but New York is always hopeful. Always it believes that something good is about to come off, and it must hurry to meet it.”
Dorothy Parker
Above is the glorious quote that accompanies the description of Ellis Brooklyn’s APPLE LOVE Eau de Parfum on the cult clean beauty brand’s website – and I love it. "New York has been a magical place for me, a place where I felt like I could finally be the true me,” says the brand’s preternaturally stylish founder, Bee Shapiro. “It's a city that has its very highs and very lows, and in-between all the madness, there is a genius that is enchanting and forever memorable. APPLE LOVE is my fragrance ode to the sweet sophistication and glamour of the city."
I love that Shapiro introduces each and every fragrance release with a beautiful story with a real sense of thoughtfulness behind it, and her latest adventure is no exception. A heartfelt love letter to her “magical” New York, it celebrates the iconic city as the place where she truly discovered herself as a woman and as a creative. She arrived as a lawyer and soon realised her path was to be very different, and the amber-gourmand scent literally bursts with the joy she felt upon that realisation.
Opening with juicy, photorealistic apple and then transitioning to a city chic, ultra-smooth blend of Peach Skin, Muguet, Plum Blossom, Sugar Cane and Vanilla, the scent uses no less than seven upcycled ingredients, the Praline note made with 100 percent renewable carbon. Shapiro is a big believer in using scent technology that is created from white and green biotech, which is a cleaner way to create fragrance and the way it is heading in the future. And because APPLE LOVE is Ellis Brooklyn, it’s also joyfully paraben-free, phthalates-free, PETA certified cruelty-free and vegan – even more of a reason to indulge in the unabashedly sweet scent.
The perfect scent to ease the transition into the cooler months, APPLE LOVE is pure joy… and available now at MECCA.
