All about: NARS' latest additions to the stellar Light Reflecting line

If you follow me on Instagram (please do!) you would have seen me professing my love for NARS Light Reflecting Eye & Lash Gel. The main thrust of my comments was that it’s rare to be totally blown away by a skincare line created by a makeup brand but by god, NARS knocked it out of the park with that one. I’m also a huge fan of the NARS moisturiser from the same line, which is beautifully hydrating while being deliciously light.
Which means I got super excited when I received samples of the newest additions to the Light Reflecting line – a primer (OMG) and a setting mist (OMG x 2). Both are absolutely loaded with skin loving ingredients but also built to play well with makeup (naturally), so I couldn’t wait to give them a whirl.
To start with, the Light Reflecting™ Hydrating Primer promises to take “your luminosity to the next level”, which I am very much on board with. Incredibly lightweight, it is billed as a makeup-skincare hybrid as it comes infused with no less than 93 percent skincare ingredients to improve skin’s texture, reduce the look of fine lines, and boost brightness over time. The ingredients deck includes Double Hyaluronic Acid - two sizes of molecules: one to immediately hydrate the surface of skin, and another to deliver deeper moisture – and Squalane to help strengthen your skin’s natural barrier to really lock that hydration in. Then, the Hydra Priming Complex leaves a thin, breathable veil on skin that helps improve makeup application for effortless longwear. Love! I have been using just a small amount and found it spreads beautifully to cover my whole face and neck, and the key is to wait a little before applying your foundation for the best result. Bonus points for the chic packaging.

Then after you’re done with your makeup look du jour, lock it all in with the Light Reflecting™ Makeup Setting Mist. The brand says this isn’t your average setting spray - it's water, sweat, and humidity-resistant for up to 12 hours, while also locking in hydration for a full 24 hours. I love the hydration factor and have really enjoyed swapping this out with my usual Charlotte Tilbury setting spray, but I think the real test in terms of longevity will come in the summer months when the invites are coming in thick and fast, and the great antipodean humidity is peaking. As per the brand’s instructions, for best results mist this onto your face in a circular motion to set makeup and hydrate evenly, holding down the applicator with a long press instead of multiple short presses. Oh and I almost forgot to mention – this beauty comes with NARS’ Radiance Retention Complex, which shields your skin from blue light and pollution while ensuring your glow stays put all day long.
