Beauty news: MECCA unveils plans for what will be the biggest beauty store in the world

A constantly expanding, endlessly inspiring beauty juggernaut since day one, MECCA has just announced the imminent opening of its biggest store yet – in its hometown of Melbourne, Australia.
Set to open in early 2025 and purported to be the largest beauty store in the world, the new MECCA flagship will take pride of place on the city's iconic Bourke Street, with 300 new roles on offer within its significant walls and an array of offerings to keep every beauty freak sated. With over 200 brands and more than 80 services and experiences to be booked from launch day forwards, there will be something for every beauty novice to beauty lover – and the minute the opening date is announced I’ll be undoubtedly checking flights to get in amongst the gorgeousness.
More than 27 years in the making, the three-story, 4,000 sqm beauty wonderland will be filled with the best in global beauty and located at one of the most illustrious retail addresses in the country, 299 Bourke Street on the iconic Bourke Street Mall. From 1883 to 1929, the site was home to Edward William Cole's iconic Cole's Book arcade — a two-story book shop that was once the largest in the world – how deliciously apt is that? MECCA’s Melbourne flagship will be three times larger than its already sprawling Sydney counterpart, seven times the size of the business’ second biggest store at Melbourne Centre and more than 60 times the size of MECCA’s very first store on Toorak Road in Melbourne. Mind-blowing, amirite?

The store will showcase the best of MECCA including a significant Perfumeria where customers can discover the wonderful world of MECCA’s global curation of fragrances designed to engage all the senses, as well as an extensive skincare range underpinned by high-tech services and treatments to address all skin concerns, regardless of age or stage. Additionally, there will be reimagined spaces for customers to discover, experience, and experiment with their favourite makeup brands.

Alongside the classics, MECCA will also introduce new concepts like the MECCA Apothecary, their first physical destination servicing customers’ holistic beauty needs. With over 15 new wellness brands and new services offering support for skin restoration and repair, gut health, and changing beauty needs through the cycles of life, it’s set to be a huge success.
There will also be the MECCA Atelier, a one-stop-salon where customers can have their makeup, hair and nails done all in one sitting for the ultimate pampering session, and MECCAversity Auditorium, an education space that will bring customers, team members and the community together to participate in large-scale masterclasses, beauty school courses and M-POWER events.

I can’t wait to see how the historic space is transformed, and to experience the wonders of a truly mega-MECCA myself.
