Golden Globes Hair how-to: Zendaya’s Old Hollywood Glam for 2025 by Coree Moreno
The endlessly chic Zendaya is always a red carpet MVP, and her stellar look for the Golden Globes held earlier this week did not disappoint. Nominated for her role in Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers, the star worked with long time celebrity stylist, Law Roach to create something really rather special for the official opener of the awards season, supported by a flawless glam that aligned perfectly with the Old Hollywood vibe of her dress.
Collaborators Zendaya and Roach chose a design that referenced the iconic Joyce Bryant, a Black singer in the 1940s and 1950s nightclub scene who broke barriers in the nightclub scenes of the time, and was renowned for her work as a civil rights activist. Roach told the The New York Times that Zendaya’s glamorous look served as an homage, recreating the signature ballgown silhouette, diamond jewels and retro waves that Bryant often wore to perform on stage.
Using minimal heat, Moreo smoothed any dents from the rollers and tamed flyaways using the ghd Curve Classic Curl Iron and fluffed the hair using round brushes. To maximise volume, he also added in two shades of Bellami Hair’s Silk Seam Clip-In Extensions in Chestnut Brown and Chocolate Brown - cut to her exact length to seamlessly blend the look and add fullness exactly where it was needed. From there, it was all about moulding the bob into what he called a “flame wave” and locking curls in place with a light but powerful hairspray.
Old Hollywood – tick. Elevated and modern – tick. Just flawless – a given!
